The Science in the News service ended in mid February 2011. All the news before this date is still available on this website.
Science in the News content consists of unedited articles supplied by the New Zealand Press Association (NZPA), postings on Sciblogs, and news releases from organisations that may have a vested interest. The intention is to inform what is being said in the news, not to provide informed comment on the science behind it. Material in this section must not be regarded as necessarily authoritative or endorsed by the Royal Society of New Zealand.
