Primary Science Week will be held from 7 May to 11 May in 2012 (Term 2, Week 3).

Primary schools  are encouraged to have science as a focus for teaching and learning during Term 2.

Primary Science Week is an opportunity for all New Zealand primary schools to engage in science learning.

Throughout New Zealand students, teachers, parents, communities and science providers will be involved in a wide range of national and local science activities designed to promote awe, wonder and interest.

During this nationwide event there will be opportunities for children, teachers and parents to be involved in national competitions, science investigations and workshops.

Regional Science Associations will provide a series of activities during the NZASE National Primary Science Week, based on the needs of their local area, including professional development workshops for teachers each day during the week.

Workshops will celebrate science through the Nature of Science strand including ideas for the classroom, teachers sharing practice and visiting speakers.

The Royal Society of New Zealand supports the NZASE National Primary Science Week through its Advancing Primary Science strategy.
