International Science
New Zealand is a country with a relatively small but sophisticated
scientific and technological community, far from the main centres of
scientific and technological endeavour. It derives much benefit from
international scientific and technological contacts. The Royal
Society’s international liaison role is non-governmental and it
establishes and maintains international and regional links with
scientific and technological non-governmental organisations.
International Scientific Unions
On behalf of New Zealand scientists and technologists the Royal Society
affiliates to
32 non-governmental science and
technology organisations. Apart from the International Council for
Science (ICSU), they cover the following areas of science:
The Society also affiliates to the Federation of Asian Scientific
Academies and Societies (FASAS) and the Asian Crystallographic
Association.
