Cross Departmental Research Pool (CDRP)

The Cross Departmental Research Pool (CDRP) supports policy-related research in government departments, and is administered by The Royal Society of New Zealand.

The Cross Departmental Research Pool objectives are to:

• fund high quality cross-departmental research, which will support government's policies
• foster new relationships and capabilities within and between departments so that over time departments take responsibility for investment in long-term high-quality research
• develop a portfolio of research activity divided between smaller, short-term projects to foster new relationships and capabilities, and multi-year large scale projects to provide key building blocks for government's decision making.

Departments can bid for funding to carry out research of critical cross-portfolio interest.

Funding available

For investments commencing in 2010/11 the Minister of Research, Science and Technology is investing $4.1 million in the Cross Departmental Research Pool.

CDRP investment process

All government departments interested in applying for Cross Departmental Research Pool funding are invited to submit an Expression of Interest to the Royal Society for New Zealand for consideration.

Applicants who meet the requirements at the expression of interest stage will be invited to submit a proposal.
