Abstract Sophora microphylla and
S. prostrata are readily separated by the phenolic constituents of their seed coats, and both are readily distinguishable from
S. tetraptera by the phenolic constituents of their leaves. On this basis
Sophora populations in Chile and Gough Island are confirmed as
S. microphylla. The probable New Zealand origin of these populations is discussed.
