Abstract Forest succession on three landslides above Lake Thomson, west of Lake Te Anau, was studied during May 1962 by Mark et al. (1964). At that time the youngest slip-face and its associated debris-fan were estimated to be 15 years old. I examined these sites on 11 November 1974 when they would have been 27 years old. Several changes in forest structure and composition were obvious.
