Chordospartium muritai (Papilionaceae) ó a rare new species of New Zealand tree broom

Abstract Chordospartium muritai A. W. Purdie sp. nov. from Clifford Bay, Marlborough is described. It is distinguished from the only other species of the genus, C. stevensonii Cheesem., by its branchlet habit, distinctly erect racemes, flower colour and size, and by its smaller pods and seeds. Only one population of 28 plants is known, grow- ing on an unstable cliff.
