Abstract A detailed morphological description
of each of nine pistillate and three staminate New
Zealand clones of kiwifruit (Actinidia deliciosa var.
deliciosa) is provided. Clones described include:
'Abbott', 'Allison', 'Bruno', 'Constricted', 'Elm-
wood', 'Grade', 'Hayward', 'Jones', 'Monty' (pis-
tillate types), and 'Matua', Tomuri', 'Bl' (staminate
types). Most clones can be identified by using flower
and fruit characters. The lack of significant differ-
ences between some clones ('Abbott' and 'Allison';
'Grade' and 'Jones') suggests that these types may
have been propagated from the same parent vines.
They should be united under the first chosen names,
'Allison' and 'Grade' respectively.

deliciosa; New Zealand; kiwifruit cultivars
