The parapara, Pisonia brunoniana (Nyctaginaceae)

Abstract The name Pisonia brunoniana is accepted for the parapara or bird-catcher tree. This Australasian taxon is considered specifically dis- tinct from the widespread tropical Indo-Pacific P. umbellifera (J. R. et G. Forst.) Seem. The mono- typic genus Heimerliodendron Skottsb. is not accepted.
