CALCULATION OF VAISALA-BRUNT FREQUENCIES AND SPECIFIC VOLUME DISTRIBUTIONS OF SEA WATER

Abstract An expression is derived for the Vaisala-Brunt frequency in terms of the gradients of potential temperature and salinity. Modifications to facilitate calculations are suggested. A new method for expressing the specific volume distribution in terms of pressure, potential temperature, and salinity is also discussed.
