Abstract The rate of oxygen uptake by
Boeckella dilatala collected from Lake Hayes was measured at four different temperatures using the micro-Winkler technique. The rate of oxygen consumption increased with increasing temperature between 10°C and 20°c, and then declined. This is compared with the patterns shown by
B. delicata, B. symmetrica and
Calamoecia lucasi, and regression equations relating log
c oxygen uptake, temperature, and log
e dry weight for the four species are presented.
