Abstract his volume of some 50 conference papers will have a wider appeal than might be assumed from the title. Astacology is the study of freshwater crayfish. The International Association of Astacology (IAA), which organised the symposium, has a membership including not only the scientific disciplines but also those with a practical interest in aquaculture or in fishing wild populations.
The book fills a gap in the literature with an amalgamation of technical papers and aquaculture magazine-style reviews which provide a global overview of current (1987) research directions — not only from Western Europe and North America, but also from Africa, China, Eastern Europe, and Australia.
