LIYSF 2010 will explore the future developments in the sciences, with lecture demonstrations, specialist seminars and debates led by a team of scientists and experts and scientific visits. LIYSF 2010 will have the underlying theme of “Energy – The Global Challenge”. The theme will be addressed throughout LIYSF, including an in depth specialist study day.
Registration, accommodation and air travel costs will be sponsored by the Royal Society of New Zealand and the Talented School Students Travel Award but successful applicants are required to also contribute $750.00 towards costs.
Open to students in Yr 12 - 13
This is opportunity for one male and female student who has a passion for astronomy to participate in an international gathering and experience the advanced space school program at Huntsville, Alabama. If you are already involved in an astronomy club then this would be an advantage. Return air travel costs from New Zealand to Huntsville, Alabama are the responsibility of the student/teacher. Tuition, food and accommodation will be provided by the International Space Camp. Funding to assist with international travel may be available from the Talented School Students Travel Award fund. Interested in biotechnology and biomedical science? The Royal Society of New Zealand is offering an opportunity for up to ten students to attend Biofutures 2010 which takes place in Brisbane June/July. This forum will bring together some 80 students from Australia and New Zealand who are studying at least two of any of the following subjects Physics, Chemistry or Biology.
You will participate in hands-on experience with the latest biomedical equipment and techniques and hear from some of Australia’s leading researchers as well as visit local centres of bio-medical research.

Six students from New Zealand will be given the opportunity to join up to 40 Australian students in a week of science and Technology. If you have a passion for science or are thinking of studying science at a tertiary level then you are invited to send in your application.

This is an international research-oriented science camp, in which that about 100 students from more than 11 countries participate. It is a two-week program that consists of science and engineering research in top-level university facilities, field trips to major institutes/industries, cultural experiences and much more.
