The membership of the Royal Society of New Zealand is an important part of our reputation and mana. Our elected Fellows, Companions, members, and regional and constituent organisations are the foundation of our organisation, providing valuable expertise. The breadth of our membership enables us to draw upon the full range of New Zealand’s multi-disciplinary research expertise.

Membership is open to “any person who is able and willing to subscribe to the object of the Society”. Members subscribe to the Royal Society of New Zealand’s Code of Professional Standards and Ethics. Members can be individuals or organisations. The Royal Society of New Zealand Rules define membership categories, fees, and rights.
