Established under the Royal Society of New Zealand Act, 1997, the Academy is dedicated to promoting excellence in science, technology and the humanities.
It is the only organisation in New Zealand which focuses on the criterion of excellence in research in science, technology and the humanities.
The Academy also assists and supports the activities of the Royal Society of New Zealand.
