He is renowned as one of the most innovative physical chemists in the world and the international leader in the development of instrumentation for mass spectrometry. At several times in his career, the worldâ€™s best machines were built by him.
He contributed to the key breakthroughs towards Fourier Transform Ion Cyclotron Resonance, Matrix-assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time of Flight, and Tandem Mass Spectrometry.
He is the recipient of several research prizes and medals from the U.K., Australia and Czechosolvakia.
