Biographical Information

Dr Davis has played a leading role in the discovery of major genes for sheep profligacy, namely the Booroola, Inverdale and Woodlands genes, not only in elucidating physiological action, but also in mapping at the molecular level. He has also made a major contribution in highlighting the diversity of naturally occurring genetic mutations in our sheep flocks and the value of sheep as a model in reproductive medicine and biological sciences. Dr Davis is a world-leading expert on sheep reproduction genetics and his work has been of considerable economic value to the New Zealand sheep industry.
