The award honours those who have achieved distinction in the protection, maintenance, management, improvement or understanding of the environment, in particular the sustainable management of the New Zealand environment. The award is made every three years and consists of a medal and a cash grant.
Please note: The successful recipient is required to undertake an all expenses paid public lecture tour, visiting selected Royal Society of New Zealand Branches, in the year following the award.
Nominations are now being called for the 2013 Charles Fleming Award for Environmental Achievement. The closing date for nomination is 30 June 2013.
