Within the framework of the Korean-New Zealand Science and Technology Cooperation Agreement, the New Zealand Ministry of Science and Innovation (MSI) and the Korean Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST) are supporting Joint Research Projects, to foster scientific collaboration between scientists working in specified fields.
Key aims of the second Focal Point Programme (FPP2) were to identify opportunities for engagement, facilitate the exchange of scientists and ideas between the two countries, learn about the capabilities of both countries, and set the scene for potential joint research projects. After three years of relationship development, the NZ and Korean governments now wish to provide the opportunity for scientists to work together on research projects in these areas.
Joint Research Projects will take place over three years. Projects will be selected for funding in accordance with scientific excellence and outstanding cooperation between the scientists of the two countries.
Topics for this round of Joint Research Projects are:

- Nanotechnology
- Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency
