2021 Hochstetter Lecture

GSNZ Canterbury Branch is proud to hold the holding the 2021 Hochstetter Lecture delivered by Darren King and Dan Hikuroa.

Dr Darren Ngaru King and Dr Daniel Hikuroa will present the 2021 Hochstetter lecture on 'Encouraging plural methods and values as the foundation for cross-cultural research collaborations'.

Darren and Daniel have been jointly recognised in this award for their outstanding commitment to, and pioneering research on the weaving of mātauranga Māori and earth science. By challenging notions that mātauranga Māori is incompatible with science, their research has deepened understanding of geological history, geomorphology, climate change, geohazards and human-environment interactions across Aotearoa-New Zealand.

Darren will be here in person, Dan plans to be joining on Zoom.
