Appointment of chair of the advisory committee
Emeritus Professor Richard Bedford QSO FRSNZ has been appointed to Chair the Advisory Committee for the Centres of Research Excellence 2019/20 funding round.
Recently the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) announced the 2019/20 funding round for the Centres of Research Excellence. Royal Society Te Apārangi has been contracted by TEC to run the contestable process. The 2019/20 funding will support the work of up to ten CoREs and includes specific funding for a CoRE focussed on Māori research. Royal Society Te Apārangi is now forming an Advisory Committee to oversee the process and make the recommendations to TEC of which proposals to fund.
Royal Society Te Apārangi has appointed Emeritus Professor Richard Bedford QSO FRSNZ to Chair the Advisory Committee. Professor Bedford will be well known to many for his past and recent contributions to the tertiary education and research communities in New Zealand. He will assist the Society to select the remaining members of the Advisory Committee and the convenors of the Expert Selection Panels that are also to be established.
