Team Bronze for marine investigators

Otago students make sense of the marine world

 

Team Bronze Awards have been awarded to teams of Year 10 students for  their investigations during the “Making sense of the marine world” programme based at the New Zealand Marine Studies Centre.

The students came from the following schools: Bayfield High School, Catlins Area School, Columba College, Elim Christian College, Greymouth High School, Kings High School, Logan Park High School, Mackenzie College, Maniototo Area School, Opihi College, Otago Girls High School, South Westland Area School, St Hildas Collegiate and Wakatipu High School.

With post-graduate marine science students as mentors, the teams worked on the shore and in the laboratory utilising a wide range of tools and resources.

The programme engaged students in sensory exploration of the marine world, processes of thinking, science investigation planning practice and analysis, communication, review and reasoning as well as creative challenges to share their science in novel ways.
