Royal Society Te Apārangi is an independent statutory organisation that advances and promotes the humanities, mātauranga, science and technology in Aotearoa in New Zealand. We do this through research funding, expert advice, community outreach and engagement, and rewarding and acknowledging excellence and leadership.
Our Fellows Ngā Ahurei, Members, Companions Ngā Takahoa, and regional and constituent organisations are the foundation of the Society. The Membership Coordinator is a key contributor to ensuring superior delivery of services to these member groups as part of the Academy & Operations team.
We are an organisation of about 47 kaimahi staff based in Thorndon, Wellington. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer.
Pūtake Tūranga Role Purpose
You will be the go-to-person for our broad range of members (both organisational and individuals), welcoming new members, managing the membership database, and collating & writing newsletters/content for various membership groups. You will maintain website areas that relate to the membership including developing content and you will coordinate membership hui, events and forum.
As an experienced administrator, you will be able to turn your hand to broader matters including event planning and management, travel bookings, accounts support as well as day-to-day office support.
You will be able to demonstrate good communication skills (particularly writing skills), experience in using Mailchimp for distribution of various communications, proficiency in the use of both Microsoft Office and Adobe software, and experience in the use of databases.

The position is a permanent role, either on a full-time or job-share basis, starting as soon as reasonably practicable. Any necessary training will be provided, but experience in similar roles would be beneficial.
