Royal Society Te Apārangi is an independent statutory organisation that advances and promotes the humanities, mātauranga, science and technology in Aotearoa in New Zealand. We do this through research funding, expert advice, community outreach and engagement, and rewarding and acknowledging excellence and leadership. We operate a venue with a number of meeting rooms and a lecture theatre from our buildings in Thorndon, Wellington.
We are an organisation of about 47 kaimahi staff and are looking for a friendly person to join our team in the front office.
This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer as part of the Academy & Operations team.
Pūtake Tūranga Role Purpose
You will be the front face of our organisation welcoming guests to our venue and providing phone and email reception as necessary. You will coordinate on-site events and ensure they run effectively and efficiently, manage the calendar of room and theatre bookings, advise and facilitate all catering requirements for events and hui and be the go-to person for both internal staff and our external customers in relation to all Te Whare Apārangi matters.
You will understand hospitality and strive to provide superior event organisation and delivery for our customers. As an experienced administrator, you will be able to turn your hand to broader matters including accounts support, travel booking, building contractor/maintenance liaison as well as day-to-day aspects such as mail, couriers and general office support.
You will be proactive, able to work independently, and be a welcoming presence in our whare. You will have a positive attitude and be comfortable with technology. The role will also act as one of our building's emergency wardens.

Wā Roanga Tenure
The position is a permanent full time role starting as soon as reasonably practicable. Any necessary training will be provided, but experience in similar roles would be beneficial.
