EOI - Royal Society Commonwealth Science Conference 2021: Science For A Resilient Future

Royal Society Te Apārangi is inviting expressions of interest from Early Career Researchers who wish to attend the UK Royal Society's 2021 Commonwealth Science Conference. Held every 3 years, this conference focuses on bringing together researchers from across the Commonwealth to incentivise international collaboration and research.

The conference is being held online from 22-26 February 2021, and the theme is 'Science For A Resilient Future'. There will likely be a follow-up event in the Pacific region. Royal Society Te Apārangi will nominate attendees to be selected by the UK Royal Society.

The eligibility criteria are as follows (please note the UK Royal Society has a slightly different definition of ECR to Royal Society Te Apārangi):

  • Based in, or citizens of, a Commonwealth country and/or affiliated with a university or institution based in a Commonwealth country
  • Early Career Researcher, defined as between 2-10 years of postdoctoral experience, or researcher with equivalent qualification (factoring in career breaks and/or part-time work)
  • Expertise in one or more of the conference sub-themes:
    • Developing resilient energy systems – decarbonising energy consumption, mitigating climate change, and moving towards a circular economy
    • Nurturing resilient ecosystems – maintaining and strengthening biodiversity, sustainable stewardship of the oceans, and adapting to a changing climate
    • Building resilient societal systems – adapting to a changing climate, moving towards a circular economy, and addressing the health impacts of COVID-19.

Expressions of interest should be sent to ecr@royalsociety.org.nz by 30 November 2020, and include a CV and brief statement on your interest in this conference and how your research relates to one or more of the conference sub-themes.
