Technology in the NZC -What do the curriculum changes mean for primary schools?

A CORE Breakfast and follow up Workshop

By 2020 there will be a requirement for all schools to implement the new Digital Technologies Hangarau Matihiko curriculum content, including understanding the revised essence statement.

This CORE seminar will unpack the revised learning area structure and discuss the implications for planning by sharing some examples of what this looks like within a primary schooling context.

References to a range of other resources will also be included.

These sessions  will be of interest to primary teachers and school leaders (Years 1-8) who want to find out more about the changes to the Technology learning area.

The  breakfast session( 7:00-8:30 am) will:

  • Explore what Technology teaching looks like in your school now
  • Clarify misconceptions about what is required by the New Zealand Curriculum’s Technology learning area
  • Share examples of curriculum integration and best practice
  • Discuss where to next in terms of implementing change.

The workshop (9:15am-12:15 pm) is a hands on opportunity to delve deeper into the topic by unpacking aspects of the Technology curriculum.

This will include exploring some curriculum focused teaching and learning activities across levels 1-4 and  begin an action plan to support participants to develop an integrated programme of delivery.
