Science Media Centre celebrates 10 years

In July 2008 a big mission to improve the depth, breadth and quality of science coverage in the New Zealand media was launched with a small team in a back room of Royal Society Te Apārangi... 10 years on it's time to celebrate what's been achieved.

Last Thursday many of the journalists, scientists, science communicators, SMC advisory board members and former staffers gathered in Wellington to celebrate 10 years of the New Zealand Science Media Centre.

The SMC have also put together a video with reflections from some of the journalists and scientists they've worked with over the years.

They have also launched a new website and a timeline with some of the key events over the decade.

Read reflections from current SMC Director Dacia Herbulock, Founding Director Peter Griffin and Te Pūnaha Matatini director Professor Shaun Hendy FRSNZ.
