Upcoming Academy Executive Committee and Society Council elections

Calls for nominations for positions on the Academy Executive Committee (AEC), the governing body of the Academy, and the Society's Council will be made soon. Nominations will be invited for AEC Convenor of the Social and Behavioural Sciences and AEC Convenor for Technology, Applied Sciences and Engineering. For the Society’s Council, nominations will be called for the Constituent Organisation representative and Early Career Researcher representative.

In addition, nominations for two Māori member representatives on Council will be sought. A permanent Māori Electoral College was established by the Society in 2019, embedding representation on Council for Māori, which had previously existed (prior to 2019) through a co-option process. The Māori Electoral College for Council is open for any Māori individual member (Fellow, Companion, Professional Member, ECR Member or Associate Member) to join. The terms for the two representatives, through the transitional arrangements under the Rules, are for a 1-year and a 2-year term. The current Māori Electoral College councillors, Professor Linda Waimarie Nikora FRSNZ and Professor Te Kani Kingi MRSNZ, are each eligible for election for a further term.
