Marsden Fund Council vacancy for Ecology, Evolution and Behaviour panel convenor

There is a vacancy for the Ecology, Evolution and Behaviour panel convenor on the Marsden Fund Council.

The Marsden Fund (the Fund) supports excellent, investigator-led research. A Marsden Fund grant is regarded as the hallmark of excellence for research in New Zealand. The Fund supports research in the full range of disciplines, including science, engineering and maths, social sciences and the humanities.

Ten panels are convened by Marsden Fund Council members who are responsible for the effective conduct of the assessment process. The Council makes the funding decisions which are recommended by the panels.  The Council comprises of the Chair and the convenors of each panel.

Each panel convenor needs to ensure that the funding recommendations made are defensible, by:

  • ensuring the framework for assessment is followed;
  • identifying and taking appropriate action over conflicts of interest;
  • ensuring that information provided for feedback to applicants is appropriate (all feedback to applicants will be given by the convener).
