Kaimanaaki Whātoro Tāngata Impact Advisor – Expert Advice and Practice (12-month fixed term contract)

The Expert and Practice team are seeking a Kaimanaaki Whātoro Tāngata Impact Advisor – Expert Advice and Practice to provide support with the preparation, publishing, and dissemination of influential expert advice on issues relating to science, technology, and the humanities.

This role will work alongside Ngā Tumu the Directors, Expert Advice team to ensure expert advice outputs reach target audiences in the public and government and have positive impact.

Pūtake tūranga | What you will do

In this wide-ranging role of Kaimanaaki Whātoro Tāngata Impact Advisor – Expert Advice and Practice, you will:

  • Develop and deliver multimedia communication and outreach initiatives that connect our expert advice with a broad range of communities. This will vary with each project, but could include web-based resources, creative digital and print outputs, social media, workshops, webinars, videos, podcasts etc
  • Ensure expert advice outputs reach target audiences, including the public, government, and Māori communities, and have positive impact
  • Work collaboratively in a dedicated, enthusiastic team
  • Work with Aotearoa New Zealand’s leading researchers and knowledge holders

Pukēnga | Skills and experience

The Kaimanaaki Whātoro Tāngata Impact Advisor – Expert Advice and Practice will ideally:

  • Have experience in communicating research findings or other specialist knowledge to a lay audience
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail
  • Be experienced in developing and delivering multimedia communication and outreach initiatives that connect projects with a broad range of communities. This could include web-based resources, creative digital and print outputs, social media, workshops, webinars, video, and/or podcasts etc
  • Have strong working knowledge of te ao and te reo Māori
  • Have a passion for clear communications that engage and influence people
  • Enjoy working collaboratively in a high-performing team
  • Have a tertiary qualification and/or other relevant post-graduate qualification in science communications or equivalent experience

Wā Roanga | Tenure

This is a full time (37.5 hours per week) 12-month fixed-term position.

Te Mahi | Job Description

Salary range current midpoint: $74,400. The full salary range is 85% - 115% of the midpoint. An expected appointing salary will be up to the midpoint, depending on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.

This role reports to Mātanga Rangahau | Director – Expert Advice and Publishing and will work closely with other colleagues in the Expert Advice and External Engagement teams.
