Have you ever wondered why some animals have a single offspring whereas others have a litter? Much of the answer lies in a single type of cell within the ovary, which for many years was seen as a passive, albeit critical, participant in the reproductive process: namely, the egg. In this talk, Jenny Juengel unravels the mystery of litter size regulation in mammals.
