Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) resource: Te Ao Tūroa

Cross-curricular resources

Te Ao Tūroa is a cross-curricular resource from MPI which  looks at how 3 key interrelated systems – animal welfare, bio-security, and food – support our primary industries.

Learning experiences for levels 1–5 of The New Zealand Curriculum are contextualised into one or more of the key interrelated systems and link to the learning areas of health and physical education, science, social studies, and technology.

The resource is designed with local communities, environments and industries in mind and includes a selection of learning activities, so you can choose those that best relate to your community.

The learning experiences are contextualised into one or more of the key interrelated systems – animal welfare, biosecurity, and food.

The resource is structured around learning experiences developed for Levels 1 and 2, 3 and 4, and 4 and 5 of The New Zealand Curriculum

A series of professional development videos has been created to introduce teachers to the 3 systems that support the primary sector and underpin these resources – animal welfare, bio-security and the food system.
