Inaugural Chemistry Careers Evening - 10th August 2020
The Auckland Branch of the New Zealand Institute of Chemistry hosted its inaugural Chemistry Careers Evening on 10 August.
Representatives from nine different companies gave short presentations on the roles in their company they would look to chemist graduates to fill, particular skills or attributes that they look for, and upcoming opportunities.
The companies represented were Environmental Decontamination Ltd, Douglas Pharmaceuticals, New Zealand Steel, Mint Innovation, Resene, AsureQuality, ESR, Hill Laboratories and Eurofins.
This event was well attended with nearly 200 attendees from the University of Auckland, AUT and Massey University. After the formal part of the proceedings, attendees and representatives engaged in discussions about career opportunities and experiences working in industry over pizza.
Given the success of this event it is hoped that it will become an annual tradition to showcase the diverse range of possible career pathways in industry to chemistry students and graduates.
