Life Membership of the Society recognises outstanding service to the Society.
Professor David Lowe, School of Sciences, University of Waikato
Fellowship of the NZSSS
Fellowship of the New Zealand Society of Soil Science, which is an honour conferred for distinction in the areas of research, technology, teaching, extension, and/or the advancement of soil science.
Dr David Houlbrooke, AgResearch
Norman Taylor Memorial Lecture 2020
Awarded by the President in recognition of outstanding contributions to soil science in New Zealand.
Dr Carol Smith, Head of Department of Soil and Physical Sciences, Lincoln University.
Grange Medal
The Grange Medal is awarded by the Society for outstanding service to New Zealand soil science.
Dr Fiona Curran-Cournane, Ministry for the Environment
Leamy Award
Author or authors of the most meritorious New Zealand contribution to soil science, published in the past three years.
Drs Denis Curtin and Mike Beare. Plant and Food Researearch
Blakemore Award
Awarded to the outstanding New Zealand Soil Science Technician or support staff member of the past two years.
Roger Cresswell, Lincoln University.
The Fertiliser Association Award
Third year PhD students working on the properties, productivity or sustainability of NZ’s soil and land resources.
Thomas Corbett, University of Waikato.
The Morice Fieldes Memorial Award
Recognises a PhD theses from the previous calendar year of ‘exceptional merit’.

The Theodore Rigg Award
