The 2022 NZ Geographical Society award winners announced
These annual awards recognise the achievements of NZGS members across a number of categories. The awards will be presented in November at the NZGS Conference at the University of Canterbury.
President's Award for best Master's Thesis in Geograhy: Madison Seymour (University of Otago).
President's Award for best Doctoral Thesis in Geography: Dr Rachael Boswell (University of Auckland), Dr Dyanna Jolly (University of Otago).
Highly Commended Doctoral Thesis in Geography: Dr Francesca Dodd (University of Waikato)
Distinguished Service Award: Associate Professor Karen Fisher (University of Auckland), Associate Professor Nick Lewis (University of Auckland)
Honorary Geographer: Anthonie Tonnon
Ngā Matia Matawhenua Māori Award: Bianca Elkington, Moana Jackson (posthumously), Rebecca Kiddle, Ocean Ripeka Mercier, Mike Ross, Jennie Smeaton, Amanda Thomas
NZGS Distinguished New Zealand Geographer Medal: Professor Regina Scheyvens (Massey University)
