Background to the NZUK Link Foundation Fellowship
View background information about the NZUK Link Foundation and Fellowship.
The NZUK Link Foundation was established in 1990, to mark the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Waitangi, under the Patronage of Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and Princess Anne. The Foundation serves to enable cross-cultural exchange and sharing of innovation between New Zealand and the United Kingdom in education, technology, arts, and business. It has been funded by donations and corporate sponsorships.
Every year, the NZUK Link Foundation will enable one Māori researcher to travel to the UK and spend 2–3 months at a university or research institute, working in medicine or public health. They will also have the opportunity to be considered for the European Educational Programme in Epidemiology, a 3-week residential Summer Course, which is held in Florence for 3-4 weeks each June-July.
The NZUK Link Fellowships are intended to facilitate collaboration between Māori health researchers in Aotearoa New Zealand and colleagues in the United Kingdom, and to develop ongoing collaborations between institutions in the two countries.
