Video: Future-proofing Aotearoa - population change
On Monday 8 June, the Policy Hub at Te Herenga Waka—Victoria University of Wellington and the Royal Society Te Apārangi organised the webinar Future-proofing Aotearoa: Preparing for the population changes ahead.
Leading experts Professor Paul Spoonley FRSNZ, Professor Tahu Kukutai FRSNZ, Associate Professor Polly Atatoa Carr and Dr Patrick Nolan shared data and insights on our population, discussed the implications for our future, and gave their advice on how we might respond. This discussion was particularly important as our population is forecast to continue to grow from 5.3 million people today to 7 million by 2060, and diversify, age, and urbanise over that time.
