Remote communities face limited connectivity, high internet costs, low digital literacy, and lack of localised tools. This digital divide restricts access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, risking further exclusion in  a world increasingly driven by artificial intelligence. We seek to deploy affordable, offline-capable AI tools on low-cost devices, optimise connectivity with AI, and build local digital repositories.

Ravneil Nand is a Lecturer in Computer Science and Information Systems at the University of the South Pacific, where he gained his BSc, BTech, MSc, and PhD. His research interests encompass natural language processing, AI, optimisation, algorithms, time-series prediction, and data mining. He’s an active member of professional organisations including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and the International Association of Engineers.
