Increasing extreme wind events expose a critical gap in metal roofing systems and current methods cannot reliably predict failure. We test components experimentally and use numerical modeling to understand connection behaviour and capacity. We then develop a probabilistic framework that links component-level capacities to system-level roof performance, enabling safer and more resilient design under extreme wind conditions.

Shubham Tiwari is a PhD student in Civil Engineering at the University of Waikato, who completed undergraduate and Masters studies in India. His research focuses on the structural behaviour and probabilistic analysis of  metal roofing systems under wind loading. He specialises in experimental testing, numerical modeling, and system-level probabilistic assessment, and has published in structural and wind engineering. His work integrates laboratory testing and computational methods to improve roofing resilience.
