We aim to develop a smart mobile app, ‘TinyMotion’, that enables automated assessment of movement for early screening of babies to identify
developmental conditions, such as cerebral palsy. Current methods for movement assessment rely on trained experts and are time-intensive, limiting
accessibility and scalability. Our solution allows parents or clinicians to record babies’ spontaneous movements, supporting earlier, faster, and more
accessible screening worldwide.
Manpreet Kaur is a PhD candidate at the University of Auckland, where she develops smart technologies for the automated assessment of baby movements
and early detection of cerebral palsy risk. She has a strong background in computer science and engineering, with Bachelors and Masters degrees from
India. She is passionate about translating artificial intelligence into real-world health solutions with meaningful societal impact. She has received both the
MedTech 3-Minute Oral Presentation Award and the Matai Symposium 1-Minute Lightning Talk Award.
