Eligibility: for Post-Doctoal researchers based in New Zealand

Prize: Certificate, cash prize of $2,500 and association with the Hamilton Lecture every third year.

The Hamilton Award (formerly called the Hamilton Memorial Prize) is awarded to an early-career researcher for excellence in scientific research, conducted while resident in New Zealand. The award will normally be made to one person.

Current status

The 2026 round for nominations is now open. The closing date for nominations is 31 March 2026.
