The Hector Medal is awarded for outstanding work involving chemical, physical, and mathematical and information sciences, to the researcher who has undertaken work of great scientific or technological merit and has made an outstanding contribution to the advancement of knowledge.
The medal will not normally be awarded for research involving the same discipline two years in a row.

The 2026 round for nominations is now open. The closing date for nominations is 31 March 2026.
