On 7 May a celebration was held for the Partenariat Hubert Curien | Catalyst: Seeding Dumont d’Urville 20th Anniversary between France and Aotearoa New Zealand.
The celebration was an opportunity for researchers from Aotearoa to present their success stories of their collaborations with French organisations using the Dumont d’Urville funding scheme.
The event was opened by HE Ms Laurence Beau, Ambassador of France, and Paul Atkins, Chief Executive of the Royal Society of Te Apārangi.
The audience also heard from Dr Jean-François Hocquette, INRAE and Mrs Héloise Benard of CNRS on collaborations between their organisations and Aotearoa.
Impact assessments from Prue Williams, Ministry of Business, Employment and Employment (MBIE) and Anne Rouault, Embassy of France to New Zealand & the Cook Islands were also presented, further providing evidence of the success of the programme over the past 20 years.
The FAST! (French Aotearoa Research Technology and Innovation) Network published a book as a testament to two decades of joint research supported by the programme. The publication highlights a vast range of achievements and reinforces the importance of the continued partnership in advancing science.
